Babae Kulong dahil sa hindi Awtorisadong Pagkuha ng Pensyon

Nahatulang makulong ang isang babae dahil sa pagsisinungaling para makuha ang buwanang pensyon ng kanyang ina. Hinatulan ng Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 100 si Angelina Vergara dahil nagpanggap siya bilang si Corazon Vergara, na kaniyang ina, upang kunin ang death pensyon nito bilang survivorship pensioner ng ahensya. Sinabi ni SSS President at Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc na ang akusadong si Angelina Vergara ay nasentensiyahang makulong ng anim na taon at isang araw hanggang walong taon dahil sa paglabag sa Section 28 ng Social Security Law. “Namatay na ang kanyang ina noong Abril 6, 1993 pero kinukuha pa din ni Bb. Vergara ng pensyon ng kanyang ina. Iligal niyang kinuha sa bangko ang pensyon at makikita ito sa kabuuang overpayment na nagkakahalaga ng P180,732.71,” sabi ni Dooc. Batay sa desisyon ng RTC, natuklasan ang hindi awtorisadong withdrawals noong tumanggap ang kapatid ng akusado na si Alfredo Vergara ng liham mula sa bangko na nakapangalan sa kanyang ina na si Corazon. Inabisuhan niya kaagad ang bangko at pinayuhan siyang i-report ito sa SSS upang ipakita ang death certificate ng ina. Nag-isyu din ng testimonya ang kapatid ng akusado na si Elma Vergara upang suportahan ang imbestigasyon at sinabing si Angelina ang nag-withdraw ng buwanang pensyon ng kanilang ina. DILG warns public vs scammers soliciting nominations for barangay OIC post

Interior and Local Government Officer-in-Charge Catalino S. Cuy is warning the public to be vigilant and report scammers who solicit nominations to be appointed as Officer in Charge (OIC) Punong Barangay or Barangay Chairman in exchange for money.   Cuy said that there are reports coming from the Department’s regional offices confirming certain unscrupulous individuals going around various barangays asking for the names of possible appointees to be positioned as OIC of the barangay. “The Department denies link or connection with any of these organizations or groups of people. We are still awaiting further instructions and developments about the 2017 Barangay Elections, so we encourage the public to report such illegal activities to the DILG,” he stressed. He said that it is imperative to wait for the Congress’ final say while at the same time, staying clear from some exploitative and deceitful people who try to take advantage of the hiatus.In a directive released recently, Cuy said that the Department does not sanction nor endorse any and all forms of solicitation regarding appointments to posts in the government. BJMP inmates received livelihood and educational support from Congressional Spouses Foundation

The Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc. (CSFI) headed by its President Emelita Alvarez turned-over to BJMP the trust fund amounting to Php 500,000 intended for the livelihood programs of inmates yesterday. The activity coincides with the opening of MCJ’s Munting Aklatan, CSFI in partnership with the Department of Education brought sets of books for the Alternative Learning System of inmates. “It is important that we provide the inmates livelihood programs and we are thankful that the Congressional Spouses Foundation extend its support to us ”, BJMP Chief Serafin P Barretto Jr said CSFI has been supporting the “One Jail, One Product” program of the BJMP for almost a year now. “Jails should be places of second chances and we are here to support that goal by providing our inmates a sufficient capital to pursue their crafts”, CSFI President Emelita Alvarez said during interview. Livelihood programs are critical component of rehabilitation among inmates prior to their reintegration back to their respective communities. “Lack of sustainable livelihood causes inmates to return in their usual criminal activities. While they are under our care, the BJMP and other service providers like CSFI, CHEERS and TESDA are equipping them with necessary skills training and livelihood support”, Barretto emphasized. PDEA DESTROYS P134 MILLION WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

Dangerous drugs valued at P134,009,108.70 were destroyed today (July 4, 2017) by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). Destroyed through thermal decomposition were 44,669.65 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and 10.58 grams of marijuana. Also destroyed were 28,410 grams of activated carbon. Thermal decomposition is the process by which various compounds are broken down into single units by the application of heat wherein reconstruction of the substances is impossible.
