DOSTv now on free TV

  By Romelie Janelle Maranan S&T Media Service, DOST-STII   DOSTv, the official science channel of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), starts airing on free TV this last week of May. The shift from online to regular channel gives more people easier access to the latest weather and science updates. DOSTv will air Monday to Friday via PTV4 starting May 29, 2017, Monday at 9:00 to 9:30 in the morning. The transition of the program from the online platform to free TV will mark DOSTv’s first anniversary on May 30, 2017. To date, DOSTv has aired 251 episodes online.For its pilot episode on PTV4, DOSTv featured the coral reef reforestation project of the DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development on the majestic waters of Tawi-Tawi on its SineSiyensya segment.Programming contents will still include weather reports from DOST- PAGASA; interview with S&T experts and officials; SineSiyensya (documentaries); Balitang RapiDOST (S&T local news); Global Science (S&T worldwide news); Sci-Facts (S&T trivia); Sustansyarap (DOST-Food and Nutriton Research Institute’s healthy recipes); DOST-PHIVOLCS update; and a lot more.Aside from its 9am airing on PTV4, DOSTv will continue its daily online streaming at 11:00am via www.dostv.ph, w ww.dostv.ph/youtube, and facebook.com/DOSTvPH. SSS, binatikos ang NGCP na Pag-aari ni Sy sa Pagkamkam ng Lupa na para sa mga Miyembro at Pensyonado nito

Binatikos ni Social Security System (SSS) Commissioner Pompee La Viña  ang National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), ang kumpanyang pagmamay-ari ni Henry Sy, Jr., dahil sa banta nitong pagkuha sa lupa ng SSS na matatagpuan sa Pasay City na nakalaan para sa pagpapatayo ng SSS Corporate Center of the South na may kasamang ospital para sa mga miyembro at pensyonado.  Nais kunin ng NGCP ang 60,872 square meters na bahagi ng 129,548 square meters na lupa ng SSS na makikita sa Diokno Avenue sa Pasay City malapit sa Film Center of the Philippines, Government Service Insurance System, SM Investment Properties at iba pa.  Sinabi ni Commissioner La Viña sa isang press conference na ang NGCP ay walang konsiderasyon at walang konsensya dahil nais nilang kamkamin sa halos 34 milyon na miyembro pati ang mga pensyonado ng SSS na umaasa sa mga serbisyo ng SSS kabilang na ang planong pagpapatayo ng SSS Corporate Center of the South at ospital. “Kaunting malasakit lang po. Huwag po sana nating kunin ang lupa ng mahihirap na Pilipino. MOVEMENT OF OFFICERS TO FURTHER IMPROVE PERFORMANCE: PDEA

Moving key people is a good strategy to increase flexibility and adaptability of an organization, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said that Agency has embraced the management principle of moving its pivotal officers around to continuously increase their interest level and motivation. “The movement will harness the full potential of PDEA Officers, maximize their efficiency and productivity and at the same time maintain a well-balanced and fulfilling work life in public service,” Lapeña added. The following PDEA key officers are designated effective May 22, 2017: a. Director Juvenal Azurin as Regional Director, PDEA Regional Office-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA RO-ARMM); b. Director Bryan Babang as Superintendent, PDEA Academy; c. Director Gilbert Buenafe as Director, Special Enforcement Service (SES); d. Director Ismael Fajardo, Jr., as Regional Director, PDEA Regional Office III; and e. Director Aileen Lovitos as Regional Director, PDEA Regional Office XIII. “These reassignments/designations went through the process of careful deliberation based on the officers’ competencies and field of expertise.
